WhatsApp might launch a self-destruct message feature for its users

Self-destructing messages have been in vogue. Popular apps such as Snapchat and Telegram offered such a feature for a long time, giving its users a new taste of privacy. However, recently a piece of news surfaced that WhatsApp too has been working on a similar feature. But when the new feature will be implemented or in what form it will be available to everyone is something that remains yet unknown to everyone.

One thing that can be said with certainty is that the popular instant messaging app will launch the self-destructing messages feature for individual accounts.

WhatsApp had been testing the new feature since October 2019. In its initial phase, the developers had decided to limit the feature to group chats only. However, according to recent news, the latest version of WhatsApp beta has re-introduced the self-destruct messages for individual accounts.

But it cannot be said with certainty that WhatsApp will implement the feature for everyone to use especially because the feature is still in its beta testing mode. The developers might decide to eliminate the feature if the beta testing does not live up to their expectations or if it fails to conjure up the satisfactory user remark from its users. However, the important thing at this time is to remember the fact that WhatsApp had reconsidered its strategy and planned earlier to make the feature available to all of its users, not limiting the use of the new feature only to a few chosen ones.

The beta testers for the messaging app for Android can find the new feature in the Settings menu of each chat. The users who have access to the beta WhatsApp can tap Delete messages and choose how long the new messages will last before they are deleted from both the users’ chat history forever. Users can choose from several options: Off, 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, and 1 year.
