HUAWEI MateBook 13 2020: Review
HUAWEI has launched its MateBook 13 and if I have to use one word for it, it looks splendid. I will be presenting a review of HUAWEI’s latest model.
Display
As with the other netbooks, the HUAWEI screen size is compact. The MateBook 13 comes with a 13-inch screen, with a 2K FullView resolution. The screen-to-body ratio is 88% and the 100% sRGB, which is the typical color gamut, gives a brilliant visual experience. With the aspect ratio of 3:2, the MateBook seems the perfect device for reading and writing.
Touch
HUAWEI provides a multi-touch screen with a high level of precision in its MateBook 13. The touch sensitivity is accurate and there is a special feature to notice here. The user can swipe down with three fingers to capture a portion of the screen. Astonishingly, the text can be extracted from the resulting screenshot and smoothly edited.
Body
Huawei MateBook 13 weighs a very light 1.3 kilograms which makes it sturdy yet portable. The metallic frame measures a slim 14.9 mm. The diamond cut on each corner gives it a classy and a premium look. There are two color variants: Mystic Silver and Space Gray.
Huawei SHARE
This is a special feature of HUAWEI. With a simple tap, you can combine your smartphone and MateBook into a single device. And this doesn’t even require an Internet Connection.
The phone screen appears on the laptop, and one can easily drag and drop files between the laptop and the phone. Hence you can work on the laptop as well as send texts on your phone using a single keyboard and mouse. This Multi-screen collaboration is a special function of Huawei Share and provides a degree of comfort not experienced before.
Engine
Huawei MateBook 13 is powered by 10th generation Intel’s i7-10510U processor. Graphics are taken care of by NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics card. The potent combination makes video editing and gaming a hassle-free experience. HUAWEI claims that the 2×2 MIMO dual Wi-Fi antennas can deliver up to 1733Mbps of download speeds thus promise us with a very good connection.
Memory
There are two variants available of 8GB and 16 GB large memory. And to make things more interesting there is 512GB of PCIe SSD storage. There is sufficient memory to run multiple applications simultaneously efficiently.
Battery and charger
The battery’s rated capacity is 41.7Wh. According to tests local 1080p videos can be played for 11.6 hours on a full charge. The battery supports QuickCharge technology. The battery gains 2.3 hours of office use just from a 15-minute charge.
The Charger is a 65W USB-C type and comes with a detachable cable and weighs just 160g. It can be used for charging and transferring data. The charger supports HUAWEI SuperCharge and this feature can be utilized for certain phones. Being super light-weight the charger is very pocket-friendly.
Heat dissipation
To ensure that the laptop runs without any hiccups, Huawei provides MateBook 13 with its new Shark Fin 2.0 fan. This has dual fans which increase the speed by 25% and enable quicker heat dissipation. This further makes a great working experience. Also, this makes the laptop a good platform for playing intensive games.
Power Button
The Power Button has a fingerprint sensor on it. Thus with a single press, the laptop switches on and logs in. This makes it very safe and user-friendly.
Light control
HUAWEI MateBook 13 tries to reduce the strain on eyes by reducing the blue light. This can be done by selecting EyeComfortMode which automatically makes light and color adjustments to protect the eye. This makes the laptop eye-friendly where one can work longer safely.
The HUAWEI MateBook 13 is a superbly designed laptop with premium features. The Huawei Share feature makes it very distinct and the eye-comfort feature also adds a feather to its cap. Moreover, with a fast-charging option and a powerful battery, the laptop promises a great working experience. With its processor and heat dissipation technology it’s not a bad gaming laptop either.
