New IPL 2019 LIVE streaming feature to allow fans interact with experts

Hotstar is reportedly adding a new feature to make the Indian Premier League 2019 live streaming more interactive for fans.

The cricket enthusiasts while watching the Indian Premier League 2019 action live on Hotstar will get the option of posting comments and interacting with experts. The OTT platform is reportedly considering to integrate social for the live and exclusive streaming of the platform.

Hotstar had already introduced a special feature to allow the consumers to post emojis during the IPL 2018 live streaming. The option to post comments and interact with experts will be the next step to make the live streaming more interaction.

Exchange4media has quoted a “highly-placed” source to confirm that Hotstar has planning to integrate social on the OTT platform. The addition of social to gaming, which was introduced in 2018 with Watch’ N Play, is expected to take the engagement on the platform a notch higher.

As of now, social media platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Twitch have social integration for live interactions.

The IPL 2018, according to a Wavemaker report, had registered 16.7 million conversations across various social media platforms. A Facebook 2016 study had further revealed that the live content receives 10 times more comments than regular videos.

The move will help Hotstar increase the total time spent during the IPL Live streaming.

The feature also presents brands with better options to integrate advertisements with social. “The social layer is beneficial for brands because the more time users spend on the platform, the greater the chances of them watching ads,” E4M has quoted a senior digital media buyer as saying.
