Delhi Capitals to name Dhiraj Malhotra as Chief Executive
The Delhi Capitals will reportedly rope-in former International Cricket Council Events Manager Dhiraj Malhotra as the Chief Executive of the Indian Premier League team.
“This is a big step for the team, which is trying to set up a fresh system in place,” national daily Times of India has quoted a Delhi Capitals source as saying. The Indian Premier league Delhi franchisees, which is yet put its hand to the IPL trophy after 11 years of existence, has not just changed its name to Delhi Capitals. But here is a whole new approach in the team management.
The team’s founder co-owners GMR Sports appear to have passed the onus of the leading partner to the JSW Sports and the latter’s director Parth Jindal and the JSW CEO Mustafa Ghause have led the team management at the IPL Auction in Jaipur earlier this month.
Malhotra has been a seasoned sports administrator, who had served in key positions in the ICC and the IPL. A former IMG executive, he has also been a part of the Indian
Super League as the tournament director.
The CEO’s position with the Delhi IPL franchisee has been lying vacant ever since Hemant Dua had stepped down as the Delhi Daredevils (now christened Delhi Capitals) CEO in August this year.
