IPL 2020 Points Table: RR goes on top after defeating CSK in their campaign opener
Rajasthan Royals took the top position in the Indian Premier League 2020 points table after they defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 16 runs in their campaign opener in Sharjah on Tuesday.
It was Sanju Samson’s effortless six-hitting exhibition and Jofra Archer’s last over carnage which helped RR post 217/8 in 20 overs. For CSK, Faf Du Plessis scored 72 runs, while MS Dhoni smashed three sixes in the last over of the game but that was not enough to chase down the total.
RR now have two points from one game and a net run rate of +0.800 which put them on the top of the points table.
Rajasthan is followed by Royal Challengers Bangalore who also won their opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad and have two points and a net run rate of +0.500.

Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings are third and fourth on the list respectively with two points each. Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), who lost their opening match to DC in a Super Over, are fifth. Mumbai Indians (MI), who lost to CSK in their opening game and SRH, who lost to RCB in their opener, are at seven and eight spots respectively.
Kolkata Knight Riders, who are yet to open their IPL 2020 campaign will take on MI on Wednesday at 7:30 PM IST.
