ASUS India teases Indian market with world’s fastest gaming monitor

ASUS India has teased the Indian market with its TUF GAMING VG279 QM, the world’s fastest gaming monitor. The model was released in December last year. It was made available in the US market from the 2nd week of January 2020. And now ASUS plans to launch it in India soon.

Right at the beginning, I would like to clarify that this is a monitor, not a PC, not a laptop. Let’s take a look at what makes this gaming monitor so special:

The 280 Hz refresh rate

ASUS TUF GAMING VG279 QM offers Full HD resolution at a 280 Hz refresh rate. This makes its display incredibly fast, almost twice as fast as a 144Hz monitor. However, there is a small catch.

ASUS TUF GAMING VG279QM

The display is capable of showing 280 frames per second as specified, but its the connected computer that drives the screen. Therefore to achieve that high refresh rate the machine will require a very high-end graphics card and CPU. We would suggest you go for it only if you are into eSports gaming.

The extremely fast refresh rate results in fluid gaming visuals. It gives the gamer one leg up in first-person shooting, racing, real-time strategy, and sports games.

IPS Display

The fast IPS Display with a 1ms (GTG) response time nearly eliminates smearing and motion blur. Brilliantly colored images are supported by the display with an amazing contrast ratio of 1000:1.

G-Sync Compatibility

The ASUS monitor is also NVIDIA certified G-SYNC compatible with a variable-refresh-rate(VRR) feature enabled by default. This means if the GPU cannot push 280 frames per second, the refresh rate will automatically adjust according to the GPU’s performance ability. It will give the gamer tear-free, seamless frames without any stutters or screen freezes.

There is also the option of enabling ELMB (low motion blur technology) and Adaptive-sync simultaneously. This eliminates issues like ghosting and tearing of images at high frame rates. And gives the user sharp focussed visuals.

HDR Display

ASUS TUF GAMING VG279 QM also comes with High Dynamic Range(HDR) with DisplayHDR 400. This technology delivers a broad range of colors and also higher contrast. The sharpest whites and blacks both are visible to the gamer.

ASUS has also made in-game enhancements to further enhance the overall gaming experience.

Multimedia Connectivity & Design

The monitor can connect with a wide range of multimedia devices using the DisplayPort1.2, and 2 X HDMI 2.0 ports. With a great design to suit your viewing position, the display can also be wall-mounted.

We don’t have any heads up on the price as of now. But to give the readers an idea it was priced at 3699 Japanese Yen and around 500 US dollars on Taobao.com after its initial release.
