IPL Moneyball : SuryaKumar enter into top 15 Impact table
The Mumbai Indians booked a berth in the VIVO IPL 2019 Final after they defeated the Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 which was played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday evening. The visitors restricted the home team to 131 for 4 first and then chased down the runs in 18.3 overs; the 6-wicket win was MI’s third consecutive win over CSK this season. Rahul Chahar was MI’s best-performer with the ball, while Suryakumar Yadav powered the chase with an unbeaten half-century.
Suryakumar Yadav produced his season’s best in this crucial match. Dropped very early in his innings – when on 11 – he rode his luck to score 71 from 58 balls. After walking in to bat in the very first over, he started briskly, scoring three boundaries by the time powerplay ended. With the field open thereafter, he kept picking the gaps and collecting singles, bringing down the target steadily.
Yadav collected the majority of his ten boundaries behind the wicket; there were cuts, late cuts and flicks off the pads.
Thus Yadav added 71 impact points to his IPL Moneyball Impact Rank profile and made an extensive jump from the 20ty spot to the 14th position in the IPL Monayball Impact Table. In totality Yadav have accumulated a total of 436 impact points in this season of VIVO IPL for his 409 runs and 9 catches in this season.
IMPACT RANK
Impact Rank is a methodology devised by Moneyball to rate players on the basis of their performance impact on the match in all aspects – batting, bowling, fielding – of the game. The Impact Rank takes into consideration runs scored, wickets and catch taken as well as stumping and run-outs executed by a player.
IMPACT POINTS CALCULATION
Impact points are arrived at by applying a formula for performance evaluation. Players earn one point for each run scored, 10 points are allocated for each wicket, while catching, stumping and run-out add three points to a players IMPACT RANK.
