Kapil Dev’s daughter is assistant director in Ranveer-starrer ’83
Kapil Dev’s connect with Ranveer Singh starrer ’83, the movie based on India’s triumph in the 1983 World Cup, will go beyond the captain’s role in creating a cricketing history.
Daughter Amiya has joined the production crew as an Assistant Director for the portrayal of India’s historical 1983 Cricket World Cup title triumph.
Kabir Khan’s directorial venture has Ranveer Singh in the lead role as Kapil Dev, the champion captain. The hero being trained as a cricketer by Kapil himself.
“Amiya is just out of college. As of now, it looks like she just wants to explore different things like most bright people do. She is very helpful to us, she knows the subject, she knows all the cricketers and she has access to all of them. She is also very willing to learn,” IANS has quoted a source associated with the film as saying.
The film will portray India’s triumph in the 1983 World Cup. It will show how India survived the elimination fear triggered by the top order batting collapse in a league game against Zimbabwe and how Kapil’s Devils toppled mighty West Indies, who were the champions for the first two editions of the World Cup and firm favourites to complete a hat-trick.
The team of 1983 was full of characters to add twists to the cine story, which is bound to be laden with off the ground anecdotes. There is plenty of present on the cricketing front.
Kapil is the nodal person for all the liaison with the players. The skipper has led from the front in bringing all the ’83 champions together for their consent for the film and commercial negotiation.
He is also associated with the production.
The film is presented by Reliance Entertainment. The shoot will start in the month of May.
