No more ‘baby-sitting’; India-Australia series to be serious affair

No more ‘baby-sitter’ banters. The Australia-India limited overs series, starting with a T20 International on February 24, is going to be an intense battle.

Host broadcaster Star India has given a serious tone to its campaign after the first tongue in cheek, pun-intended video which featured Virender Sehwag with a “toddlers XI” dressed in Australia’s limited overs yellow jersey replicas.

The second part of the campaign also features former Australian opener Matthew Hayden with a message for Veeru. “Veeru Paaji, Australians ko bachcha mat samajhna (Veeru don’t treat the Aussies like kids,” suggests Hayden to the former India opener.

Before the second video release, Hayden had retaliated to the Sehwag jibe on his twitter handle @HaydosTweets. “#BeWarned  Never take Aussie’s for a joke Viru Boy @virendersehwag @StarSportsIndia Just remember who’s baby sitting the #WorldCup trophy,” read Hayden’s tweet.

The entire campaign is created in the backdrop of Tim Paine-Rishabh Pant banters with the three stumps separating the duo during the India’s tour of Australia.

The Australians will be treated like kids on their forthcoming tour of India. That was the essence of host broadcaster Star Sports’ first campaign video for the T20 International and One Day International series. In a fitting reply to the Tim Paine banter, Sehwag had said the Indians are ready to “baby sit” the Australians in the upcoming series – making obvious that India is going to treat visiting Aussies as kids.

Meanwhile, away from the campaigns and banters there is some intense battle on cards and the Kangaroos play two T20 Internationals and five One Day Internationals in India.
