PSL 2019 : Fawad Alam to sing official anthem of the league

Television and film heartthrob, Fawad Khan will turn singer for the fourth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Khan, who will soon be seen in the much awaited period drama ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’, will be singing the tournament’s anthem. It gets underway in February 2019. Prior to his acting career, Khan was the lead singer for his band EP. However, due to his TV and film projects, Khan has been unable to commit to his singing career, until now.

Produced by Shuja Haider, the track will also have some rap tarka in it by the rapper, ‘Young Desi.’ The rapper is popularly known for his performance in Coke Studio 11’s “Rap Hai Saara.’ Khan, however, will not be seen as the brand ambassador of Islamabad United this year.

Khan will takeover from Ali Zafar, who has sung the PSL anthem for the past three years. While Ali did a great job, PCB’s decision to choose Fawad Khan this time will definitely bring a vibrant palette and a much-needed change for the audiences.

According to the reports, the reason to replace Zafar is possible that the sexual harassment allegations levied against him by the fellow singer/actor Meesha Shafi.

PSL 4 commences on February 14, 2019 and will be broadcasted live in Pakistan on GEO SPORTS. In the fourth season of the Twenty20 league, which starts in Dubai in February, AB de Villiers will be making his tournament debut. Abu Dhabi will host PSL matches for the first time.
